Wardsum is provided by Crown Student Consultancy (CSC) UK Ltd, trading as Ferrolo (company number 14324057, 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ, registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), registration ZC265399), referred to here as “we”, “us” and “our”. Questions about this document go to wardsum@ferrolo.com.
1. What this policy covers
This policy covers the Wardsum iPhone app, this website and emails you send us.
2. The short version
Wardsum has no account, no sign-up and no login. Your sales and items stay on your iPhone and, if you use iCloud, in your own private iCloud. We cannot see them. The app has no analytics, no tracking and no ads. This website collects no personal data.
3. What the app keeps on your iPhone
The app keeps your sales, items, settings and item photos on your iPhone. Photos are made smaller before they are saved. When you take or choose a photo, it stays in the app and is not uploaded to us.
If you delete the app, iOS deletes the data the app keeps on your iPhone.
4. iCloud sync
If you are signed in to iCloud, the app copies your data to your own private iCloud storage (the Apple CloudKit private database), so it is safe if you change or lose your phone. Sync is on by default. You can turn it off in the app’s Settings.
Only your Apple Account can open this data. We cannot see it, and Apple keeps it under its own privacy policy. To delete the iCloud copy, open the Settings app on your iPhone, tap your name, then iCloud, then Manage storage, and choose Wardsum.
5. App lock
App lock is optional and off by default. When you turn it on, the app asks your iPhone to check Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode. Apple does the check on your phone. We never receive your face, fingerprint or passcode.
6. Importing from screenshots
When you import a screenshot of your sold list, the app reads the text on your iPhone with Apple’s on-device text recognition. The screenshot is never uploaded.
7. Wardsum Pro and payments
Wardsum Pro is bought in the app through Apple. Apple takes the payment, and we never see your card details. To check that you have Pro, we use RevenueCat, our subscription provider. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID, your purchase receipts from Apple and basic technical details such as the app version. It does not receive your name, email address or sales. See RevenueCat’s privacy policy.
You can cancel at any time in the Settings app on your iPhone: tap your name, then Subscriptions.
8. What else the app sends
The app sends nothing about you or your sales to us. It makes only these requests:
- Up to once a day, it fetches the public euro to pound reference rate from the European Central Bank, to show the €2,000 limit in pounds. The request carries no personal data. Like any request on the internet, the Bank’s server sees your IP address.
- When you open the app, it checks Expo, our app update service, for a newer version of the app’s code. The request includes the app version, that your phone runs iOS, and a random ID that the update system creates on your phone. It does not include your name or your sales. See Expo’s privacy policy.
- iCloud sync and purchases, as described above.
Reminders, such as the Sunday catch-up, are scheduled on your iPhone. They are not sent from a server.
If you choose to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone settings, Apple gives us anonymous totals and crash reports. You can turn this off in the Settings app, under Privacy & Security, then Analytics & Improvements.
9. This website
This website has no analytics, no cookies, no forms that send anything and no accounts. The HMRC checker runs in your browser. It stores nothing and sends nothing. The font is served from this website, not from Google or another company.
The site is hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel processes your IP address and keeps short-lived server logs, to deliver the pages and keep the site safe. We do not use these logs to identify anyone.
10. Emails to us
When you email us, we keep your email address and your messages only as long as we need them to reply and to deal with your request. We use them for nothing else.
11. Your rights
The UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018 apply to the personal data we hold. You can ask to see, correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Email wardsum@ferrolo.com. If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
12. Changes to this policy
If the app starts to send anything new off your phone, we update this policy first. The new version applies when it is published here.
